I thought it would never happen...

Wednesday night I got a call from Shawn while he was at work. He told me not to freak out, but that it was time. Uhh....time for what?? He then informed me that he was ready to part with his hair!!!! WHAT?!?! Really!?!? Wow! WHOO DEE!! I did like his hair long, but it was getting to a point. So thursday morning we cut his hair and I wanted to take a picture of the after math on our bathroom floor but my camera decided to play hooky and be impossible to find (you know, right in front of my face, worst place to find things). I like it because I can see his face again! He's so cute!!

What a way to start a marriage!

I've not been feeling well for quite some time and I just thought I wasn't getting enough sleep. Then I started getting nausea whenever I ate. Then I'd start throwing up out of the blue. Then I started getting really weird pains in the right side of my stomach. (Chill out, I'm not pregnant, this started before we got married. On Sunday the 15th I was at work and told Shawn I couldn't take it anymore and to meet me at the ER when my shift ended at noon. When he showed up he was so worried he looked like he was going to pass out. He's pretty cute. Anyway, after 8 and a half hours in the ER, lots of pain meds, a very sweet blessing, uncontrollable pain, and an ultrasound later I was admitted to the hospital with gall bladder disease to be removed the very next day. Coolest part about being admitted to the hospital was being admitted to the floor I work on so all my coworkers took care of me. (that did have its downside too, i'll explain later). The first night there I actually didn't know the people who were taking care of me and the nurse I got was a little scary. She taped my iv to my hand so that it kinked so whenever I got pain or nausea meds I had to squeeze it to make it work. Kind of hurt too. Meh. Anyway after a night of routine 2 hour sleep interruptions (which I didn't mind cuz i'm an awesome sleeper) I awoke to find none other than Brittany standing over me! I was so excited, she is a good friend from work and one of the best PCT's you will ever find. She took my vitals and we talked for a bit, then she told me that Janet was my nurse. I was so happy I love Janet to pieces. I got one of the best teams on the floor! Anyway the morning was pretty uneventful. Took a shower and got some nausea meds and fell asleep waiting for my appointment at 2:00. At 11:00 a surgical tech, orderly, whatever he was had arrived in a hurry to get me to take me to surgery. I was not too excited I always get so nervous especially when the rush to get you because the doctor happens to have an earlier opening. Well, I was whisked away to holding where I awaited my doom (Haha I had to make it dramatic somehow) where they administered a last minute pregnancy test, negative, and one of the wonderful nurses down there fixed my IV. Where it became the magical IV of wonder. It worked very well and didn't hurt at all. Next thing I know I'm waking up in the PACU and being taken back to my room. It was all pretty easy for me. I slept alot. The Fuji's (Andrew and Andrea) came to visit me! They brought me balloons (one of which said "some people will do anything for attention" HA!) and a cute little red hippo which shall be known as hip hop anonymous or the hip hop hippo. Anyway on to the worst part of having your coworkers look after you....12 hours after my surgery I was still unable to pee. It was getting pretty painful. So I had no choice but to be straight cath'd (they insert the tubey thingy and drain your bladder, they take it out voila you're done). However allowing your coworkers to perform this sort of act on you is not the choicest of activities. no..not happiness. However it worked like a charm and I was able to go to the bathroom all by my big girl self from then on out. One of the night PCT's said that the only two times in your life you will get excited about peeing is potty training and after surgery haha. anyway I was released the following evening. I've been healing really well and feel absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!! mostly. I'd say 85% better. but I actually feel better than I did before my surgery. So yeah. Great way to get your marriage started 2 months and ten days into it wouldn't you say? My poor husband...........

Oh my gosh! Its a post!! *pause for heartattack*

Yes I am actually posting. You shush. Anyway Shawn and I are finally MARRIED!!! Being married is awesome. I highly recommend it.

We have been in our own place for almost a month now. I love it! Its a two bedroom with a teeny kitchen (which I just so happen to love) and we even have a dining room. As soon as we are completely put together I will post pictures. I don't think either one of us has eaten as much jell-o in our lifetimes as we have in the last month since we moved into our apartment. The sad part is I even experiment with jell-o recipes!

Being a newly married couple is not very condusive to gas prices these days so Shawn and I bought a scooter two days ago! Which suprisingly is giving us a little extra money in the nest egg.

Since I'm not home posting this I have no visuals to give you (I know, I know, you'll be okay....yes fuji mingle I'm talking to you).

I'll post some a little later when I actually get some :P now let's see if I can actually keep up this blogging thing yeah?

Valentine's Day!

Yesterday was Shawn and I's first Valentine's day together which I was pretty sure we wouldn't even get to see eachother for since he's at school down at snow. So since I didn't think I would see him I hung out in my pajamas at work and didn't take a change of clothes. Then I took it upon myself to exercise my buns off at 2:30 and sweat like i've never sweat before. I figured it was no big deal since I could just shower when I got home and I wouldn't have to worry about being social. But to my suprise at 4:30 the door bell rings and my love is standing on the doorstep with really pretty white and red wooden roses and I smell like I just went swimming in the dumpster. I was so embarrassed!!!! But true to his nature he knew I smelled bad but really couldn't care less because he knew I would shower after work and he was just happy to be with me. I love that he takes time to rearrange his schedule so that he can come and suprise me. Especially on Valentine's Day (its my favorite holiday!!) So after I destinkified we had dinner with my parents and he had some fun playing his Vday present. Then to celebrate he took me to play mini golf (which was suprisingly empty considering we figured it would be packed) We had a great time sassing eachother with competition. We went home and had some cookies and milk and a little bit more game time and quality time. Then off he went home so he could come to work with me today. And all because he came home yesterday I get to have a five day weekend with him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOO DEE WHOO!!!!

6 months!!!

February 12th marked Shawn and I's 6 month anniversary! Its so hard to believe its already been that long when it feels like just yesterday we were agreeing to date eachother. I think I am probably the luckiest person alive. My whole life i've had really awful relationships, so I never really thought I would find someone who is so perfect for me in every way. I've never been so happy or felt so safe with someone. I love Shawn with all my heart and I hope that the next five months goes as quickly as the first six!

Okay so Shawn doesn't believe in blogging...

...even though he's the one who started the blog...hah!! I love his pieces...

Let me take you back to the day of November 20, 2007. ...or a few days before...
The week before the 20th our friend Fuji Jingle sent me a text message asking me to help him suprise fuji mingle by taking her up to the aquarium while she thinks he is out helping his dad and SUPRISE...HE'S AT THE AQUARIUM! This was a little strange to me for a FEW reasons...

Number one: Why would he want to suprise her at the aquarium? Yes we all know that she wants to go but he hates fish...so Why wouldn't he just give in and take her himself??

Number Two: I told Shawn about it and he seemed WAY too excited that I was going to the location of our first date without him. He would be here the day after but he had to photograph something so he couldn't come up the night before. Or so he says...

Number Three: When fujimingle and I decided to have a girls night the night of November 20th, I suggested the aquarium and she WAY too readily agreed to go to the aquarium without her hubbabubby.

So the night in question rolls around and I pick up the Fuji mingle. It is sooooooooooo cold so we stop by the gas station to get some hot chocolate...My hot chocolate of choice?? MINT hot chocolate (yum a dum dum). While at the gas station I start telling the Fuj that I was having a really hard time knowing that Shawn was proposing during Christmas Break. I wanted it to be a suprise!!! So she asks me if I think he will wait to do it then. But I told her,"No because he told me he has plans for it that he cannot break." Oh well...lets get going. As we are getting on the freeway I tell her that its a good thing Shawn wasn't here because there was no way he would give me a kiss with mint on my breath. The whole way there Fuj the Jingle is sending me text messages asking where we were and then the last text message he sent me when we were almost there was "This place is closed...come anyway".

So we get there and there is no Jingle in sight so Mingle and I still walked up to the building to see if we could find out why they were closed...so Fuji she says "Lets go in!!" And we get in but I'm feeling kind of weird that they've been closed for 45 minutes and the doors are still unlocked. we get in there and she see's Fuji he around the corner and goes 'what are you doing here?" and he goes "Suprise...I wanted to suprise you" Now, I know this kid better than that. He would have had flowers and he would have been dressed nicer. so I'm sitting there sippin my hot chocolate laughing to myself about how cute they are when none other than MY LOVE COMES AROUND THE CORNER!!! ...with flowers no less. I was so excited to see him I completely bypassed the flowers and wrapped my arms around him. I honestly thought he was just here early to suprise me. He hands me my flowers and puts his hands on my arms and says "Karey, I love you and you know i'd do anything for you." He then proceeds to get down on one knee and I IMMEDIATELY burst into tears. "Karey Elizabeth Haddock, will you marry me?" Some how I managed to choke out a Yes. He stood up and I wrapped my arms around him and laughed and cried and said I love you who knows HOW many times. He then looks at me and says," Do you want your ring now?" OH YEAH! I forgot there was a ring involved!! It is so beautiful!! So after a few more hugs, kisses and I love you's we left and thanked the staff for staying open (shawn had to BEG the aquarium to stay open so he could propose to me there). Halfway into the parking lot an employee came running after us and said,"The management wants to know if you guys want to come back inside for a dance." So they had us stand on the compass in the lobby and they played Crash Into Me by the Dave Matthews Band. I was so busy crying and hugging him I could barely move.

Once again we headed out and made our way to the Mayan where we had dinner on our first date. And the very amazing fuji's came with us because we love them and we were so excited that they were part of this special night. I love that Shawn Barlow Romney more than anything in this whole world. That was the best night ever. And he is the best man I have ever had in my life...and i get to keep him!!!

Saturday

Okay just so you are all aware...I have the best boyfriend in the world. Look at that face! Awwww I loves him....anyway onto the point of this post. World's best boyfriend suprised me and took me on a picnic on saturday to the most beautiful park.

We sat under a very old, knotty (K-N-O-T-T-Y...got it???) tree,
that sat right next to a pond that led into some wetlands that you could navigate on a boardwalk.

We had subway, potato salad, and chips hahaha...

Who do you think ....

...has a bigger mouth?

After we ate we just sat under the tree that we have now dubbed as "our spot" and talked and laughed and just enjoyed our time together. He told me that he wanted to just do something nice for me since every time we're together on the weekend we are always running around busy busy. So he wanted to take some time just he and I to take it easy and enjoy each others company. He's the best! I love him to pieces.

Viva Lost Wages!

Shawn has been on my case the last week trying to get me to tell you about our Las Vegas trip. Well....I guess I'll stop being so lazy now...here you go.

So last weekend I went down to ephraim to visit Shawn. Half way down there I thought it would be alot of fun to go down to Vegas. At first he thought I was kidding and was not about to let that happen. But after about an hour he got kind of excited about the idea and off we went to Vegas! Shawn's brother Josh and his wife Becca live down in Vegas with her parents so we called to make sure it would be okay before we really left but they happily let us stay with them (on opposite ends of the house for those of you wondering :P)

Shawn and I of course hadn't eaten all day when we decided to take this last minute road trip. Sooooooooooo the obligatory road trip grub...McDonalds.
20 minutes outside of Vegas we got stuck in a dead stop traffic jam. We figured it was for the normal reasons....invisible road construction. But as we started moving we discovered that it was a semi trailer on fire!! We tried to get a picture but none of them turned out.
Driving all day does wonders for your complexion. Finally!! We arrived at Vegas. Becca's very generous parents took us out to eat, thus beginning my new obsession with coconut steamed rice. After dinner we hit the strip with Josh and Becca.
First stop, The Lions Den at MGM. It was really pretty cool to be that up close and they were really really pretty cats. The only part that freaked me out was that all the trainers were just freely walking around and PLAYING with the Lions. Cool albeit a disaster waiting to happen!
They have this place called the mile long shops or something or other on the strip so we stopped in there. It was about that point in the day though that Shawn and I had just about had it! We were so tired! And when Shawn gets tired his hair turns blue and he offends Japanese people.
The next day our first stop on the Strip was Caesar's palace. Of course....Trouble follows Shawn and he had a little run in with the law. Meanwhile, Josh compared bald heads with a butler.
After Shawn's little skirmish with the officer we decided we want to watch the light show in Caesar's palace. So we waited.....
and waited.....aaaaaaaand...
That was about as exciting as the light show got because they forgot to fill the room with fog or something because you could see little lights turning on in the ceiling but you couldn't see them go anywhere.....
So we visited Pegasus....I don't think he liked us very much seeing as how he tried to stomp us to death.
Apparently in Vegas the statues live and breathe in Vegas and if you pay them you can get your picture taken with them. I think this statue dates back to the 13th century Rome....why is Shawn holding his hand???
This Statue was a little bit frisky and while we were taking the picture kept trying to get me to actually kiss him. But I had no idea where that grody chunk of marble has been soooooooo that didn't happen.
This is straight proof that evil does exist in Vegas. Creepiest thing ever.
Last stop in Vegas....THE COCA-COLA STORE!!!!!!! However...the Polar Bear wasn't in a very sharing mood. All I wanted was a drink rudey pants.
The Polar Bear liked Shawn alot better than he liked me. See that smug bear giving Shawn a hug while he death grips that giant bottle of coke? Shawn...I think its time you bring me back a polar bear's head.
